Recreational Volunteer Coaches

Brams United Girls Soccer Club appreciates the efforts put forward by all our Volunteer Coaches.  The Club offers an Incentive program for our Head Recreational & Rep volunteer coaches. There is criteria to be met in order to qualify and the club will work with every coach to assist in meeting the expectations.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Brams United Girls Soccer Club as a Recreational Coach you must:

  1. Register on Power Up as a Volunteer by going to bramsunited.ca and clicking on Register.
  2. Complete the Respect in Sport Certificate (Mandatory if Coaching Players U13 – U18)
    1. The club will reimburse coaches that complete the Respect in Sport Course
    2. Once course is completed submit the certificate and proof of payment to the club
    3. Cheque or direct deposit will be processed within 20 days of receipt
  3. Complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening form.
    1. This is required for all coaches 18 years and older.
    2. Brams United will send MyBackCheck e-mail for coach to complete Vulnerable Sector Screening online (no charge)

Coaches must be at least 15 years of age. Any coach under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian at all times and must be registered on PowerUp as a volunteer.

Coaches automatically receive their child on their team (if the coach does not have a child they can select another player). If the coach has an assistant coach, their child will be on the same team.

No formal soccer or coaching experience is necessary to volunteer to coach House League. The Brams United Girls Soccer club does ask for team participation, positive communication, skill development and fair play from all coaches.

Recreational Coaching Tools:

There are coaching development opportunities for coaches at all levels offered by the Brams Tech staff; league coaching sessions, online tools and coaches courses offered through the Ontario Soccer Association.

By volunteering with BUGS, you are committing to:

  • Coach one game per week for the duration of the season (One practices per week is encouraged)
  • Communicate with parents (practice/game times, picture day, refreshment schedule and other BUGS related events)
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the Coaches Code of Conduct
  • Distribute player equipment as issued by the BUGS
  • Complete a coaches Brams United Player Injury Report Form and provide a copy to the club within 24 hrs
  • Follow up with players injured during the game, to obtain status of injury
  • Complete the online Player Rating tab on the PowerUp Website before the end of season
  • Be appropriately dressed with BUGS attire supplied by the club
  • Create a fun and enjoyable experience for the participants
  • Encourage self-confidence and individual skill development through positive reinforcement
  • Introduce and encourage the concepts of fair play and good sportsmanship
