Grassroots Development Program
U10/U11 Grassroots Development/Rep
Players will participate in age-appropriate training sessions aligned with Canada Soccer’s Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) framework while following Brams United SC’s Player Development Curriculum and Club Game Model. Training emphasizes the development of technically confident, intelligent, and creative players through a game-based learning environment. Sessions prioritize ball mastery, dribbling,
passing, receiving, finishing, and 1v1 attacking and defending while continuing to develop physical literacy, coordination, balance, agility, speed, and overall athletic movement. As players progress, they are introduced to Brams United’s principles of play in attacking, defending, and transition, helping them understand how individual technical actions contribute to team performance. Through small-sided games and game-realistic activities, players are encouraged to make decisions, solve problems, play with creativity and confidence, and develop an understanding of space, support, movement, and teamwork. Training is designed to maximize ball contact, active participation, and learning through play, providing the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological foundations required for long-term development and progression into Brams United SC’s high-performance pathways.
Teams will compete in a 7v7 format within the Peel Halton District Soccer Association leagues, providing an age-appropriate competition environment that emphasizes individual player development, enjoyment, and learning over results. Competition formats and league regulations are established by the District and are subject to change.
Teams will be comprised of full time and train only players. Training day player numbers and game day rosters will vary and will include up to 14 players per group. Train only players will be used for game play as needed and at the discretion of the club/coach.
Player Assessments (also known as Trials/Try Outs)
Players are welcomed to join two training sessions where coaching staff will assess and evaluate the players’ abilities. Technical staff will then advise of next steps which might include a full-time offer or train only offer along with any additional training that might be suggested to assist in your players development.
For assessments, please contact the program coordinator to confirm times/locations to attend– Grassroots@bramsunited.ca
Player Evaluations & Feedback
Feedback will continue throughout the season. Players are formally evaluated throughout the season by using age-appropriate criteria aligned with the Club’s player curriculum and Canada Soccer’s Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) framework. Evaluations consider technical ability, tactical understanding, physical literacy, effort, attitude, coachability, and overall developmental progress. Feedback is then used to identify individual strengths, establish development goals, and provide recommendations for future growth. Where appropriate, players may be recommended for additional training opportunities or progression within Brams United SC’s player pathway, ensuring each participant is appropriately challenged in an environment that best supports their continued development. 2-3 player evaluations will be completed per year and will include a coach/player/parent meeting to discuss feedback.
Brams United SC is committed to providing the highest quality learning environment for every player. While a consistent weekly structure is maintained, session formats, player groupings, and learning objectives may be adjusted at the discretion of the Technical Coordinator and Director of Soccer to meet the developmental needs of players, align with seasonal objectives, and ensure the delivery of an optimal training experience.
U10/U11 Weekly Training Structure
Session One – Club Prescribed Session (Station Model)
One weekly session is delivered using Brams United SC’s station-based methodology. Players rotate through a series of age-appropriate learning stations consisting of an introductory game, two to three focused activities, and a final game. Each station emphasizes a specific technical or game-related objective.
Activities are designed to integrate technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development while promoting decision-making, problem-solving, and game understanding. The station model maximizes ball contact, reduces waiting time, increases active participation, and allows coaches to provide more individualized feedback and groupings to maximize player development.
Players work with multiple qualified coaches throughout the session, benefiting from a variety of coaching strengths, experiences, and perspectives. This collaborative coaching model provides consistent learning while exposing players to different coaching styles they may encounter as they progress through the Club. It also creates familiarity with multiple coaches, ensuring a seamless experience when players move between programs or when coaching coverage is required.
Session Two – Coach Designed Session
The second weekly session is designed and delivered by the team’s coaching staff while continuing to follow Brams United SC’s player curriculum. All session plans are submitted to the Program Coordinator for review and are overseen by the Director of Soccer to ensure consistency with the Club’s methodology and age- and stage- appropriate learning objectives.
Sessions follow a consistent structure consisting of:
- Introductory game
- Two to three development activities
- Final game
This session allows coaches to reinforce weekly learning objectives while addressing the specific developmental needs of their team.
Session Three – Technical & Futsal Development
The third weekly session focuses on individual technical development through specialized technical and futsal training. Sessions emphasize increased ball contact, quick decision-making, first touch, ball mastery, passing combinations, finishing, creativity, and play in tight spaces.
To provide an appropriate developmental challenge, players may be grouped across age groups and genders based on technical ability, experience, and stage of development rather than chronological age. This flexible approach allows players to train in an environment that best supports their individual growth while encouraging collaboration and peer learning.
