Recreational Winter Program Information
U2-U5 Active Start
The U2–U5 Active Start Program provides children with a fun, safe, and engaging introduction to physical activity and the game of soccer. Guided by the principles of Canada Soccer’s Grassroots Standards and Long-Term Player Development (LTPD), the program focuses on developing physical literacy, confidence, creativity, and a lifelong enjoyment of sport through play.
Sessions are designed to develop fundamental movement skills—including running, jumping, balancing, turning, stopping, and changing direction—while introducing basic soccer actions such as dribbling, ball mastery, shooting, and simple 1v1 situations. Activities encourage exploration, decision-making, imagination, and success in an environment where every player is actively involved.
The program is delivered by qualified technical staff with the support of volunteer coaches and assistants. Parents and guardians are needed to participate alongside their child, creating a positive learning environment while helping players build confidence, independence, and a love for the game.
Each session consists of 3–4 age-appropriate activities that provide frequent ball contacts and maximize participation. Coaches intentionally repeat core activities throughout the season, introducing small progressions as players develop. This consistent approach allows young athletes to build familiarity, reinforce movement patterns, develop soccer fundamentals, and experience success at their own pace while keeping sessions fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
This is NOT a game program and will have age/stage appropriate activities for your child.
We offer both gym and turf options depending on location- making soccer more accessible and affordable.
